we just had two days of nourishing rain this past week & I felt the freshness of clarity it brought with it too & the uplifting of all things waiting in the cocoon of their buds waiting to bloom. Beautiful!
Really nice. There seems (to me) to be a lot pain imagery. (And I thought April was the cruelest month!) Blades, cleaving, rashes, splitting. It brings to mind the ungentle birth that we mammals suffer. I like it a lot. Blooming and coming alive is so hard after a winter's sleep.
Yes! I did want to incorporate a more brutal imagery and try to make it co-exist with all the tenderness of may; the rain and flowers and fragrance. I'm thrilled that it came through! Thank you for such a close reading Ted; it means the world.
Another lovely poem, Anagha. Interested to see you considering those for whom the rain is harder, too. I have often felt that way about snow here. It falls with silence and is transforming. But those without homes suffer and the incongruity has stopped me writing sometimes. Thank you for the shout-out, meantime. I’m glad you liked my poem.
Your poem is evocative and layered. I empathise with the thought and feeling it expresses. I commend you for it, as I also commend what I perceive to be views that are caring, compassionate and appreciative of nature, whether it is in good mood or bad, (from a human point of view), for without one we can't have the other - a lesson it is useful, in my view, for all of us to learn. (Not that I will for bad to come - it is perhaps the wrong word, "unfortunate', 'undesirable', 'ill-timed' or some such may have been better expression. Unfortunately, I don't have your way with words but fortunately, I have yours to read.
Thank you Brian! And I live in India; almost of all of South Asia has been heat-wave stricken for the past month, but the monsoon is hopefully on the horizon. In any case, I hope you make it through the incoming heatwave as comfortably as possible!
And thank you for reading and dropping a comment :)
Beautiful, Anagha. I love the dualities you discuss as well. The way you combine words stirs up all kinds of feelings. It’s very powerful!
Thank you Mike! And I'm glad you noticed the dualities; I wanted to make space for it all.
Your poetry is fresh and alive!
Thank you Don! As is your writing :)

Here's to more nourishing rain and clarity! Thank you Ash <3
“All of this exists together. The beauty and the violence. The icy breath of loss rides on the furrows of every cool wind…”
It’s so cool of you too point out your luxury of shelter, and the show how the rain cuts both ways. A beautiful read, altogether! ❤️
Thank you Sea, I really appreciate it <3

This is such a thoughtful comment! Thank you. Always makes my day to know that people are reading and engaging with my work with so much care.
Lovely poem…what part of the world do you live in? Here in the Midwest US, we haven’t had oppressive heat yet, but it’s coming… ☀️

This is so beautiful. You capture the clarity of the air after rain so well.
